Nothing like the feel of a real, analog, tube EQ!
Star Treq is a 2 channel tube EQ with a fully discrete signal path, hybrid topology: pentodes supply the main bulk of gain needed to provide sweet equalization and a precise, yet smooth action, and transistors are used as buffers to drive the output transformer and the subsequent units in the signal chain.
Each of the 2 channels has 5 filter boards that are 100% passive and use real inductors and capacitors to realize bell-shaped EQ curves. The first and the last band can also be switched into shelving mode.
The bandwidth (“Q” factor) can be adjusted approximately between .2 and 9. There are 12 frequency steps per band, set by rotary switches. Gain and Shape pots are detented for easier recall. This EQ has the highest headroom in the industry thanks to dual 150V supply rails, meaning that both the tubes and the transistors in the main EQ boards effectively run on 300VDC.
Star Treq’s tonal character can be described as sweet yet transparent. It will add just a pinch of coloration to your tracks, while preserving their definition. Use it for tracking, mixing, mastering, anything in the studio.
Like with all of our units, all the supply rails are fully regulated for smooth and hum-free operation.
