David Spidel –
Holy wow.
Here I thought this was maybe the best preamp I’ve ever tried, but my mind was blown away by the line level saturation this has to offer!
I just tried this out while mixing down a new record for The WhiskeyDicks (United We Stumble), I was sent tracks from Australia and LA, so knowing the home-studio recording chain these files were coming from were decent but not great, I simply ran the audio into the Line level inputs, and could tone shape like crazy. Hardly needed to add EQ, add an LA2a on the end, and it made it downright amazing.
In comparison to the other instruments I recorded, it somehow just had a new magic to it. So I processed EVERYTHING through it and it was a much richer, beautifully saturated, and more brilliant recording. The AIR switch removed most of the need to add high end to my EQs. The Overdrive allowed me to not have to compress as much, and left everything feeling very natural.
I want a whole console of this.
