For anyone who knows anything about music recording, I’m sure it’s quite redundant to introduce one of the icons of today’s music production and recording engineering, Joe Chiccarelli.
His career dates back from the 70’s and includes greats such as Bee Gees, Journey, Frank Zappa, Bangles, Oingo-Boingo, Pat Benetar, Joan Baez, Al Stewart, Chilliwack, Glenn Fray, Beck, Ricky Martin, U2, Enrique Inglesias, Elton John, Bon Jovi, Chicago, Rickie Lee Jones, White Stripes, Strokes, Jason Mraz and Alanis Morissette to name only a few.
3 Grammy and 7 Latin Grammy awards later, Joe doesn’t stop his search for ultimate methods and tools to achieve that perfect sound playing in his head. After all that’s what pushes the cutting edge of the recording arts further.
That’s why we were so thrilled that he chose our 2DI4 pentode direct box for his “go-to” DI at his Sunset Studio in Hollywood!

The current project I am working on is The Augustines for Fiction UK Records. Over the last few years I have used the Direct box on projects for Alanis Morrisette, Morrissey, Milow, Jason Mraz ,and several other artists.
It has become my new standard for Bass Direct boxes. The low end extension is impressive. It’s clear and open on the top end but honest to the sound of the instrument. Having the additional outputs is a big advantage. Many times in sessions these days even an electric bass might be sent tot different amplifiers or various stomp boxes so having the additional line and direct out put makes it more convenient for processing signals….
